The holiday season brings a special sparkle to Smyrna, and much of that magic comes from Michelle Smith—better known as Minty the Elf. With her quick wit, contagious energy, and just the right amount of peppermint sass, Minty has become a beloved figure in our local community.
A Touch of Holiday Magic
For the past five seasons, Minty has been spreading joy throughout Smyrna alongside Santa Smith (her husband, Paul).
What makes their story truly special is the genuine love they have for this community. As homeowners here for more than 22 years, the Smiths have deep roots in Smyrna—and that includes being part of the Bob Steele Salon family.
Michelle is a cherished client of ours, trusting our talented stylist Sherri to keep her looking absolutely fabulous, whether she's in her elf costume or enjoying everyday life in our beautiful community.
"Bringing a touch of holiday magic to our neighbors and local businesses is our way of giving back to a community that's given us so much," Michelle shares.
More Than Just an Elf
While Minty brings her signature blend of humor and warmth to holiday events—from appearances at local favorites like Stout Brothers and Ruby's Pizza to cherished home visits—her impact extends far beyond the festive season.
This past November, Minty and Santa Smith partnered with the Smyrna Public Safety Foundation to host a heartfelt photo event honoring our local first responders. The gesture came after firefighters bravely contained a devastating blaze near their Forest Hills home this summer, and it brought together families, neighbors, and city leaders in a beautiful show of community gratitude to rally around its public safety heroes, offer thanks and give back. The event was so successful, it is now an annual event. Stay tuned for the return of this event in November 2026! .
The Heart of the Holidays
When asked about their favorite holiday tradition, Michelle's answer is refreshingly simple: gathering with family and friends, sharing laughter, and pausing to appreciate the season.
"Santa's schedule can be a whirlwind," she says with a smile, "but being surrounded by loved ones fills our hearts with gratitude. That's what truly makes the holidays special."
