The beauty industry alone sends 877 pounds of waste to landfills every minute. Green Circle created a solution to repurpose these materials and create another life, and through this partnership we are able to recycle up to 95% of waste within our Bob Steele Salon locations!

Once shipped to the facility, they will be..

  • composted with other organic waste

  • Turned into bio-composite plastic to make new products like recycling bins

  • Used to research and develop new environmental technology like insulation and stormwater filtration

HAIR CLIPPINGS

Once shipped to the facility, they will be..

  • composted with other organic waste

  • Turned into bio-composite plastic to make new products like recycling bins

  • Used to research and develop new environmental technology like insulation and stormwater filtration

EXCESS HAIR COLOR

METALS

(foils, color tubes, and aerosol containers)

Once shipped to the facility, they will be..

  • Sorted by grade and type

  • Melted into aluminum sheets or bars 

  • Used to make new products like car parts or bicycles!

SINGLE USE ITEMS

(waxing sticks, cotton swabs, etc )

Once shipped to the facility, they will be..

  • Used in a waste-to-energy process to create clean renewable energy

  • The left over ash can be used as filler in asphalt

PLASTICS

Once shipped to the facility, they will be..

  1. Sorted by type

  2. Cleaned

  3. Ground into small pieces

  4. Used to make new products like shampoo bottles!

Once shipped to the facility, it will be..

  • Turned into clean energy

  • Be separated into water and oil. The water will be returned into the water system and the oil is blended into fuel.

Bob Steele Salon prides our team on implementing our core values into our everyday lives- inside and out of the salon. Once we were made aware of the impact that salons make on the environment, implementing Green Circle was a must.

In 2022, our first year as a Green Circle Partner, as a salon brand (7-locations) we had 14,095 pounds of waste repurposed and recycled. Out of that, 6,028 pounds of that was just HAIR. 

​
